The fact that the majority of classes are held on the academic side along with the overcrowding has caused long lines at dining halls. It is nearly impossible to grab a bite to eat in the 15 minutes between classes. If a dining hall was placed on the academic side, it would provide a fast and convenient way for students to eat between classes

Whenever I have the misfortune of driving through campus when a class lets out, I inevitably end up waiting for long periods of time at cross walks, usually turning a 15 minute drive into a 40-50 minute drive. It only takes a few considerate pedestrians a few moments to help alleviate this problem.

the empo idea- why cant we have real math classes

I think Virginia Tech should revamp their parking lot layout. We need better, more efficient parking for students, visitors, and faculty during the week. We especially need better parking during game days to reduce traffic, thus making it safer for pedestrians and the public in general.

Students on campus have to park all the way at the cage and visitors never know where/when they can park so they often get tickets

And the fact that they still give out styrofoam to-go containers even when you tell them it's for "here."

Why don't we use the largest patch of grass at Tech for tailgating before football games? Many other schools use their large central green spaces for tailgating and it has become a strong part of their school traditions. There are plenty of parking spots around the Drillfield, and I am sure many alumni and students would love to have a chance to tailgate in the middle of campus.
Let's start a new tradition for Hokie football, and make our game day atmosphere even better.

When I broke my foot and was on crutches for 6 weeks, I contacted SSD in hopes that they could accomodate me in some way so I can get to and from classes without having to crutch for 30 minutes. SSD was extremely unhelpful and could not offer ANY assistance because I didn't have a "permanent" disability.
A friend of mine recently medically withdrew for the semester because of the same problem.

That unused lights in buildings are left on all night.

The off-timing of the bus system. Every time you try and plan to get to a bus stop by pick up time, it's either two minutes early, and you miss it, or you end up waiting 7-10. I think there needs to be some comprehensive system to accurately relay BT information.

As an off campus student I find it hard to find a good quiet lounge or study area for down time between classes. Torg or Squires can be out of the way and residential buildings are not accessible. (Lounges for: comfort, internet/electricity access, etc)

All of the dorms should have wireless internet access.

A terrible waste of money at a financially strapped university. We need this money for things like preventing major tuition raises for students and wage cuts for professors.

Whether by the bus (a 24/7 bus to the empo) or longer hours at the library, the Town/VT need to accommodate study access to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

There are approximately 18,000 Vt Students. D2, the largest dining hall holds only 1,100 students at a time. although there are 9 other dining halls, none of them even hold even close to the same amount. This means that at the same time, less than half of Tech's students can get food. Most of Tech's students are forced to live off campus, and coming back to campus for food is a nightmare. Parking, Lines, and no place to sit are just a few of the bigger problems that hinder students from participating in something that should take place approximately 21 times a week. I therefore propose an Off-Campus dining center that would take the Meal plan accepted on campus. Although funding for this project would take a while, it would greatly alleviate many of the congestion and inconveniences of eating on campus for both students who live on and off campus.

It's a bummer that whatever you're doing has to stop at midnight on weekdays or 2 on weekends. An all night bus system could be beneficial for students without cars or means of transportation late at night

The limited amount of wheelchair accesses. I've never been on crutches or in a wheel chair, but I've been around campus enough and all the access points are so far out of the way. How is it fair to these people to have to go 20 minutes out of the way, on top of the time to get to class just to find a ramp. Tech really needs to change this.

I feel it should be necessary for every academic building on campus to have a study lounge furnished with tables and chairs and also computers and a printer. I pay too much money to attend this school to have to sit on the cold, hard floor after one of my classes andwait the 60 minutes for my next. Would it be too difficult to take a classroom furnish it with tables, chairs, 3 or 4 computers, and possibly a couch?
